The word that gives life.. Ephesians 4
Cool read. http://www.farnamstreetblog.com/2012/05/noise-and-signal-nassim-taleb/
“When consuming information, we strive for more signal and less noise. Intuitively we feel like the more information we consume the more signal we receive. While this is probably true on an absolute basis, Nassim Taleb argues in this excerpt from his forthcoming book, Antifragile, that it is not true on a relative basis. He contends that as you consume more data, and the ratio of noise to signal increases, the less you know what’s going on and the more inadvertent trouble you are likely to cause.”
… “If you want to accelerate someone’s death, give him a personal doctor.”
You are my strength. When the world disaffirms me, all I need to know is that You affirm me, that You believe in me.
It’s not easy. It’s so easy to slip back into old ways, get a quick fix, get back to my affirmation from the world. But I’m daily dying to my old man. “yet not I, but Christ liveth in me” (Galatians 2:20)
“Three times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, “My grace is sufficient for you. My power works best in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:8)
“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think.” (Ephesians 3)
…
“So all of us who have had that veil removed can see, and reflect the glory of the Lord. And God, the Holy Spirit, makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.” (2 Corinthians 3)
God has spoken to me so much today, I don’t even know where to begin. He affirmed in church through the sermon and three testimonies what he impressed upon my heart in the morning as I read. That he has freed us.
He’s freed us! Not just a “negative” freedom from sinor the past, but also a “positive” freedom, freedom to think and do like Jesus did. That’s what 2 Corinthians 3 is about. The Holy Spirit is working in and teaching us towards that ultimate goal - to be changed into His image, to reflect His glory.
Society takes that freedom away from us in many ways. Brand endorsements and the media tell you how to fit in, how to dress, how to talk, how to build your worth. But Jesus is telling us (or me, specifically), if we give our lives solely to fit in, or if we gain the world’s approval, we lose our soul (Matt 16:26).
Jesus has invited us out of slavery into His freedom. Freedom to follow the almighty Creator.
“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
- Howard Thurman
Faith is highly underrated. Too many people view faith as some sort of mysterious hocus-pocus. They’re too intelligent to have faith. Faith is for children and weak-minded adults. Yet every single day of their lives people have faith in stuff. They believe it’s safe to eat their breakfast. They trust the weatherman who says it’s not going to rain. They drive on the freeway and have faith that none of the other drivers are going to hit them head-on.
You need faith to live, or else you’d sit at home in the dark and do nothing. Without faith you would die. Believing in God is not for the simple or the weak. It’s for thoughtful people who know that without faith, you can’t ultimately experience and know God. Faith doesn’t come and go. It abides and grows as God reveals Himself more and more to the one who believes.
“And a righteous person will live by faith.” (Hebrews 10:38)

Thank God for doing His work in me, for His Kingdom..
I can hear you breathing
I can feel you leading
More than just a feelingI can feel you you reaching
Pushing through the ceiling
Till the final healing
Everything completing
Until the sea of glass we meet
At last completed and complete
Where tide and tear and pain subside
And laughter drinks them dry
I’ll be waiting
Anticipating
All that I aim for
What I was made for
With every heartbeat
All of my blood bleeds
Running inside me
I’m looking for you
There are 300 things I want to write about or post on Tumblr. Been spending too much time whittling it down to one thing. So I’m just gonna splash it all here while I wait for my laundry.
1) I’ve been listening to a cappella recordings by a certain singer, featuring top hits like Friend of God, God is able, and when you wish upon a star. Best tracks I’ve heard in two weeks. ;)
2) I’ve been cycling around Geneva for 2 days now. It’s wonderful. The fresh air, the mountains, the lake, the sun, the wind, trying to ask prices in French (Combienne coute ce latte?). Most of all, the fact that I don’t have a time that I have to try to beat. (Just killing it straight on a Saturday)
3) Listening also to Switchfoot’s Vice Verses. It’s so hard to pick a song to post here on Tumblr because every track is so massive. “I am the war I fight, I am the war inside”? “I am restless, I run like the ocean to find your shore”? Genius. Geez he put it in words for me.
4) I’m halfway through Timothy Keller’s Generous Justice now, and a thought came across my mind: We should never give when we have more than enough, because then we might never ever give - in our culture of never having enough. We should give as God prompts us to, even when we don’t think we have enough for ourselves. In a time like this, we give in faith that God will provide… The reverse is true. If we give out of our excess, it becomes a kind of moralism (doing good to earn God’s favor) and we end up allocating resources based on our limited understanding, and not at the prompting of God’s wisdom.
5) Ok I talk too much. I’ll end with a little poem for a special somebody:
I hear your heart racing,
pumping life through your veins.
I feel you speaking,
bringing me calm like the morning rain.
I see you panting,
every breath to speak animation.
I sense you near,
love replaces tension, in an instant.
I miss the taste strawberries and honey,
it’s my favorite.
I miss the music too,
me, you; piano and words.
Put all the senses in their places -
that is, upside-down, and topsy-turvy
The wrong places become the right spaces
Because, that’s how it is when you love me.
17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. 18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts. 19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.
20 That, however, is not the way of life you learned 21 when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. 22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
